‘Amazon’ Might Coexist With ‘Arrow,’ Won’t Conflict With ‘Justice League’

The casting hunt for for Wonder Woman in the upcoming CW TV show “Amazon” is still underway, but don’t expect that character to interfere with the one needed in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Justice League” film. CW President Mark Pedowitz has now come out and said that there will be no conflict for the two forthcoming projects.

“We worked carefully with Warner Bros. to make sure Warner Bros. theatrical was onboard so we were able to get it done,” he told IGN. “You want to work carefully with your studio to make sure that it works and that it doesn’t interfere with their projects.”

That’s not to say that the series won’t co-exist with “Arrow,” though. The Green Arrow and Wonder Woman are allies in the DC universe, and they could be allies on the small screen as well — if the people behind both TV shows want that.

“I think they all could exist in the same world, but whether they do or they don’t is depending on what the showrunner wants to do,” Pedowitz said.

Just don’t expect a Batman CW series on the horizon any time soon. The network already successfully tackled Superman with “Smallville,” but Pedowitz told IGN that there aren’t plans to bring Batman to the CW.

No pilot has officially been ordered for “Amazon,” and Pedowitz said that’s because writer Allan Heinberg hasn’t delivered a script yet. “First off, we’re waiting to see the script. Second off, we’re busy casting for Diana as we speak,” Pedowitz said. “Hopefully the script works the way we want. It’s an origination story in the sense that Smallville was an origination story.”
