Red Skull wasn't the only Marvel villain introduced in "Captain America: The First Avenger." The World War II superhero flick also brought sinister scientist Arnim Zola into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as played by veteran actor Toby Jones — and you shouldn't be surprised if you see that character pop up again in the near future.
Though he couldn't confirm whether or not he's starring in the sequel, Jones told MTV News at the Golden Globes last night that he's very hopeful about getting the call to return for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
"I hope so," Jones told MTV when asked if he would be appearing in the "Captain America" follow-up, out in theaters in 2014. "I'm not sure the script is totally sorted out yet, but I'm waiting to hear about that."
In the comics, Zola's consciousness is eventually transferred into a robotic body. That eventuality was teased in Zola's debut appearance in "Captain America: The First Avenger," and we wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see him return in that form for the upcoming sequel.
Jones' comments on his "Captain America" return are at the tail-end of the video below. Watch the whole thing for his take on the upcoming "Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire."
"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
