Josh Brolin Takes Clive Owen's Role For 'Sin City 2'

It's getting crowded in "Sin City," as yet another high-profile star has joined Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's upcoming adaptation.

The latest name to be added to the "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" cast is Josh Brolin. The "Men in Black 3" and "Oldboy" actor will be on board as Dwight McCarthy, the photographer played by Clive Owen in the first "Sin City" film.

"Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and 'A Dame To Kill For' is a defining episode in his life. We're looking forward to Josh's take on Dwight," said Rodriguez and Miller in a press release.

As for why it's Brolin and not Owen in the role of Dwight — well, let's just say there are story reasons for the change in actor. If the movie remains faithful to the comic, it's entirely possible that we'll see Owen at some point in "Dame to Kill For."

Brolin is the third actor in the past 24 hours to join the cast of the new "Sin City" film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was hired as Johnny, a gambler seeking vengeance on a horrible enemy. Christopher Meloni will play a cop, though little more is known about that role. The part of Ava Lord remains unfilled, though Angelina Jolie has long been linked to the character.

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" hits theaters on October 4, 2013.
