'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Casting Rumors Add New Star-Lord, Drax Contenders

Guardians of the Galaxy

What kind of day would it be without a "Guardians of the Galaxy" casting rumor? No day at all, we say!

The latest buzz on James Gunn's upcoming Marvel-in-Space! flick comes courtesy of a ComicBookMovie.com report that floats a new name out there for Star-Lord: John Krasinski of "The Office," once considered the front runner to play Captain America. He's simply listed as an actor that "Marvel is looking at," with no promises of a done deal.

CBM also mentions three actors for Drax the Destroyer: Isaiah Mustafah (alias the Old Spice Guy, who famously wants to play Luke Cage), "Man with the Iron Fists" actor Brian Patrick Wade and WWE Superstar Dave Bautista. The report states that the actors "want to take on this titan," leaving it unclear if the feeling is mutual on Marvel's end.

In short, there are no guarantees about any of these actors, and given the frequency of "Guardians" reports that have popped up lately, it's best to look at all of them as rumors for now until proven otherwise. That said, I would be up for Krasinski and Mustafah landing these roles — but it still remains anybody's game.
