There was a time where Tom Hiddleston almost directed “Thor: The Dark World,” but that time has since passed. That’s not to say there are any hard feelings, though: Hiddleston is a huge fan of what “Game of Thrones” director Alan Taylor has done with the “Thor” sequel.
“I think director Alan Taylor is really shaping up the world of Asgard and the world of these characters,” he said in an interview with Press Association.
In addition to Hiddleston, cast members like Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings and Idris Elba are all returning for “The Dark World.” Thor is facing off against new villain Malekith the Accursed, but Loki will still probably be causing trouble somewhere. Hiddleston said he’s excited to have the cast return for another go at the Marvel universe.
“It’s fantastic, truly. We are making an amazing film, and we’re having a wonderful time. It’s so exciting to have established characters and an established setting in the world, and we are working so hard to cook up something new,” he said. “That is what is exciting me — taking what we know, taking what we love and deepening it and giving it an extra dimension.”
This might be the last we see of Hiddleston’s Loki in a while. Though he served as a villain in both “Thor” and “The Avengers,” Hiddleston’s said in the past that he doesn’t think Loki will return in “The Avengers 2.” Fingers crossed he’ll go out with a bang when “Thor: The Dark World” comes out on November 8.
