Has "Guardians of the Galaxy" honed in on its two lead contenders for Star-Lord? Maybe… but maybe not.
Before the holiday weekend, Variety reported that two front-runners for the role of Star-Lord have emerged: "Cloud Atlas" actor Jim Sturgess, and "Chuck" star Zachary Levi. Both names are familiar in the Marvel news circuit lately, with Sturgess previously rumored for "Guardians," and Levi already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Fandral the Dashing in "Thor: The Dark World."
The fact that Levi is already a part of the Marvel movies should immediately cast some suspicion on his chances for playing Star-Lord. Further casting doubt is the following tweet from "Guardians" director James Gunn, caught by Comic Book Movie (and since removed from Gunn's feed): "Almost everything in the Variety article on the Guardians of the Galaxy casting (and the following articles based on it) was/is inaccurate."
Does that mean both Sturgess and Levi are out of the running? Does it further confirm our doubts about Levi, already part of the MCU? Too little is known at this point, except that some casting announcement on the "Guardians" front is looking likely to happen soon.
