It's taken a long time to get Mister Fantastic and the rest of his super-powered family back on the silver screen, but at least now we all have a date we can pencil into our calendars: March 6, 2015.
20th Century Fox has announced that their planned "Fantastic Four" reboot will launch into theaters on that very date, just shy of two full months ahead of the untitled "Avengers" sequel. No casting has been announced on the "Fantastic Four" front yet, but with a director in place ("Chronicle" filmmaker Josh Trank) and a release date on the not-too-distant horizon, you can count on some news before too much longer.
On top of the "Fantastic Four" news, Fox also announced some updates in the "X-Men" universe as well. The next two X-films, "The Wolverine" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," will both be presented in 3-D. Hardly a shock given the recent trend of big-budget releases getting the 3-D treatment, but something to keep an eye on regardless.
