It’s time to work on our clever number puns, because the forthcoming “300” sequel is soon going to be coming to us in 3D.
The film, called “300: Rise of an Empire,” is due in theaters on August 2, 2013. The news of the 3D release came when IMAX recently unveiled its 20-picture movie deal with Warner Bros. “All You Need Is Kill” is another Warner Bros. IMAX release that’s going to get the 3D treatment.
The upcoming film will focus on the story of Xerxes and has been in the works for a while. It stars Rodrigo Santoro, Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green, but won’t be bringing Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas back from the dead.
“Oh yeah, I’m not doing it,” Butler told MTV News recently. “They’re filming [the ’300’ sequel] right now. I wish them the best, but it didn’t [work out]. It wasn’t really my thing.”
