New 'Wolverine' Synopsis Pits Logan Against His Own Immortality

It's hard being the best there is at what you do when a) what you do best isn't very nice and b) no one lives long enough to see you do it. It's no wonder, then, that Logan has so many emotional and psychological walls built up in his life — walls we wholly expect to see come crashing down when "The Wolverine" hits theaters next July.

A brand new plot synopsis for Hugh Jackman and James Mangold's upcoming adaptation of the fast-healing mutant's Japanese adventures has come online, putting the emphasis squarely on Logan's immortality issues. Read it below for yourself.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel, but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

"The Wolverine" hits theaters on July 26, 2013.
