'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Adds Elizabeth Henstridge And Iain De Caestecker

Two new agents are reporting for "S.H.I.E.L.D." duty, though neither of them are exactly the Joss Whedon regulars some of us had been hoping for.

Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker have joined the cast of Marvel and ABC's developing "S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They've been cast as science specialist Gemma Simmons and technology wizard Leo Fitz respectively, two characters who were already mentioned in the show's initial casting call. They're considered an inseparable pair, despite constant bickering.

Henstridge and De Caestecker join the previously cast Clark Gregg (returning as the presumed dead Agent Coulson) and Ming-Na Wen (playing ace pilot and weapons expert Melinda May). Joss Whedon is expected to direct the pilot if his schedule allows. He co-wrote the pilot alongside brother Jed Whedon and Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen.
