"X-Men: Days of Future Past" has a brand new old director in the form of Bryan Singer, but what was the real reason behind Matthew Vaughn's departure? Original reports state that Vaughn is about to refocus his efforts on "The Secret Service," based on his comic book co-created by "Kick-Ass" writer Mark Millar.
But perhaps there's more to the story.
Collider reports that Vaughn may be in early talks to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII," the 2015 Disney blockbuster that has every nerd in the galaxy sitting at the edge of their seats. Vaughn's work on "X-Men: First Class" and "Kick-Ass" might not be the strongest indicators of how he would approach a "Star Wars" film, but his adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" shows what Vaughn can do with big, romantic sci-fi.
