'Star Wars' And Comics: What Happens Now?

With Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm, one question that comic book fans are likely asking is this: what's going to happen to the "Star Wars" comics?

For years and years now, Dark Horse Comics have been the publishing powerhouse behind "Star Wars" comics. But with Disney's ownership of Marvel Comics, one imagines that the relationship could change in the not too distant future.

Dark Horse president Mike Richardson commented on the matter recently, saying that for now, "Star Wars" is staying put — but exactly how long that will remain the case is very much up in the air.

"Dark Horse and LucasFilm have a strong partnership which spans over 20 years, and has produced multiple characters and story lines which are now part of the Star Wars lore," he said, according to MTV Geek. "Star Wars will be with us for the near future. Obviously, this deal changes the landscape, so we'll all have to see what it means for the future."

Wherever "Star Wars" lands, continued comics told in that universe is all but guaranteed; it just might take place at the House of Ideas instead of its current home at Dark Horse.
