You won't see Edgar Wright's long-awaited "Ant-Man" film before Joss Whedon releases his "Avengers" sequel. But you'll see it pretty soon after.
Marvel Studios and Disney announced today that "Ant-Man" will hit theaters on November 6, 2015. While many speculated that the shrinking superhero would make his big-screen debut in 2014 — the same year that "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" are released — ahead of the planned "Avengers" sequel, it looks like Marvel's plans involve Hank Pym showing up after Earth's mightiest heroes get together a second time.
Hey, as long as there's a release date, we're happy!
The question is, does "Ant-Man" mark the end of Marvel's Phase Two plans? Or is it the beginning of Phase Three? It's certainly an ideal place to kick off an Ultron story line, with the ending of "Avengers" teasing the android antagonist ala Thanos. Just speculation right now, but a fun possibility to consider.
In other Marvel news, the studio announced that both "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World" will enjoy 3D releases. Shouldn't be too long before "Captain America" and "Guardians" get announced for a similar treatment.
