'Captain America' Sequel Looking At Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 'Lost' And 'Game Of Thrones' Stars

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Which of these front runners will play Captain America's new leading lady? According to a new report, the answer could well be… none of them!

Latino Review reports the rumor that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the current favorite to play Sharon Carter in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." She would need to sport a British accent, as Marvel is reportedly seeking actresses with accents for the part. (Alison Brie, one of the supposed contenders for Sharon, would be auditioning with a British accent, the report states.)

In addition to Winstead, three actors have emerged as the leading contenders for two "very physical" male roles, one of them American, one of them foreign. The actors are "Lost" veterans Josh Holloway and Kevin Durand, and "Game of Thrones" villain Nikolaj Coster Waldau.

There's no word on who these characters are, though judging by the "Winter Soldier" storyline from the comics, it's very likely that the assassin Crossbones is one of the villains in the mix. That's just speculation for now.

Meanwhile, Latino Review also has word that the three characters at the heart of "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax the Destroyer, with Rocket Raccoon and Groot saddling up for supporting roles. There's also speculation that Adam Warlock and Nova will have parts to play in the film.
