Patrick Stewart: 'X-Men' Return Is An Enthusiastic 'Possibility'

Professor Xavier

Even with James McAvoy currently occupying the literal and figurative seat, there's hope that Patrick Stewart will have another rendezvous with the "X-Men" film franchise in the none too distant future.

Recently, a rumor suggested that Stewart was eyeing a return to the role of Professor Charles Xavier in some future capacity. Now, a direct quote from Stewart during an appearance at the 2012 Montreal Comic Convention further adds credence to the acclaimed actor's desire to fight for mutantkind once again.

"I think there is every possibility," Stewart said of the chances he'd be back for more "X-Men" during a Q&A session at the con. He then "enthusiastically" listed off several of his female co-stars from the "X-Men" days, including Halle Berry and Famke Janssen, before saying, "Yes, I'll be reprising…"

THIS MUTANT LIFE: Should Patrick Stewart return to the "X-Men" series?

But before Stewart could reveal any major scoop, he was cut off by his son Daniel. Perhaps there really is something concrete in the offing, and it's just too soon for Stewart to say. Either way, we'll believe it when we see or hear something official.

Big thanks to Newsarama for the head's up on this.
