'Dredd' Gets Destroyed At The Weekend Box Office

Even with an overwhelmingly positive critical reaction on its side, "Dredd" could not lay down the law at the domestic box office this weekend. After debuting in theaters last Friday (September 21), the Karl Urban-starring adaptation of the 2000 AD cult icon crashed and burned with a sixth place opening worth $6.3 million. That's very bad news for fans hoping for a "Dredd" revival, as writer Alex Garland stated just a few months ago that the action flick would need to earn "above $50 million in the US" to warrant a sequel.
