Lizzy Caplan Says No To 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV Show

The "S.H.I.E.L.D." television series promises the arrival of an all-new cast of agents; it won't be the Agent Coulson show, and there likely won't be too many Nick Fury sightings, either.

But some had hoped that Lizzy Caplan, the star of the S.H.I.E.L.D.-centric Marvel One-Shot "Item 47" debuting alongside the "Avengers" Blu-ray, would have a role to play on Joss Whedon's planned TV show. Sadly, it doesn't sound like it's meant to be, according to the actress herself.

"I can't really," she told Superhero Hype about whether or not she'll appear on Marvel's new show. "I have my own show so I will not be a regular on the Marvel 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' show. But I'm glad people are so excited about that. I think it's a good idea."

It's not an entirely lost cause, however. Even though Caplan is already committed to the Showtime series "Masters of Sex," the actress said there might be room for a "S.H.I.E.L.D." guest appearance at some point down the line.

"Maybe I could do some little thing," she teased.
