Nathan Fillion On 'Guardians': 'I'm Very Busy Right Now'

With two of his best friends in show business — "Avengers" mastermind Joss Whedon and "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn — both heavily invested in the Marvel Studios game, the question of when the heck will Nathan Fillion get involved burns brighter now than ever before.

In fact, should his schedule allow for it and the powers that be want him, there's one character in particular that many fans believe Fillion is perfect for: Peter Quill, alias Star-Lord, the space-faring leader of the Guardians. But about that whole schedule thing...

"I'm very busy right now with a job that I'm grateful for," Fillion told MTV News at TIFF when asked about his possible involvement in the "Guardians" film. "I've made a commitment [to 'Castle'] and I have to see it through. And I'm really happy to."

That doesn't mean Fillion doesn't have some inside track on "Guardians," however, having recently enjoyed a sushi dinner with Gunn, a man he's worked with on films like "Slither" and "Super."

"We had dinner the other night and he told me all about it, before everyone found out," Fillion said of his dining experience. "I was on the inside on that one. Over some toro, tuna belly, we discussed how excited he is, how nervous he is, but how he wanted it very badly. He wanted it very badly. I think it's in very capable hands. It's in the right hands. Having worked with the man, I know what he's capable of."
