We know which comic book movies made the most money in 2012. And we could argue endlessly about which movie was the best of the year in terms of quality. But how do these films’ heroes and villains rank when judging them by their Bacon Numbers?
Bacon Numbers, if you don’t already know, are a new form of Google metric that assigns a number to any given celebrity based on their closeness to a Kevin Bacon film. Just Google the words “Bacon Number” and your film star of choice’s name together, and you’ll get your answer. It’s the most search-friendly way to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, and a fantastic time-suck besides.
So, that out of the way, I spent a sad amount of time today getting the Bacon Numbers of some of 2012’s most prominent comic book movie characters. The results differ greatly from what I’d consider the best films of the year. “The Dark Knight Rises,” for example, is my second favorite superhero flick of 2012. But its central hero only ranks fourth in terms of Bacon Numbers. Poor Batsy. (Loki, pictured above with a bacon mustache to put Wendy to shame, is a two.)
No more spoilers. Read on for the year’s comic book movie heroes in Bacon Numbers.
