The CW gave us Superman and the Green Arrow, and now it may be giving us Wonder Woman.
Sure, we’ve heard this claim before. DC Comics and Warner Bros. have had a notoriously hard time bringing Wonder Woman to the big or small screens, with NBC most recently turning down a pilot for a TV series created by David E. Kelley. But this time it seems like the magic might actually happen.
Vulture is reporting that “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The O.C.” alum Allan Heinberg is working on a script for a new take on Diana of Themyscira under the working title “Amazon.” As the title implies, this premise would follow Wonder Woman as a “young, budding superhero” instead of the powerful woman we’ve all come to know and love. As Vulture puts it, “no bracelets, no crown.”
There’s been no pilot pick up order yet, so this definitely isn’t a done deal. Still, despite the fact that we’ve been burned by Wonder Woman projects before, this one we’d like to put our faith in. Maybe instead of bringing together the Justice League on the big screen, DC and WB could unite their superheroes on television. Sure, “Smallville” is off the air and “Arrow” is just kicking off, but there seems like no better home for Wonder Woman, even if she will be in the “Amazon.”
