We've long known that Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo have a soft spot for one another, but we didn't know how deep those feelings went. It turns out that RDJ might have found his Hollywood soulmate in the form of Academy Award-nominated actor.
A preview of yet another featurette that will be featured on "The Avengers" Blu-ray and DVD has hit the web via IGN, and this one focuses on Chris Evans' portrayal of Captain America and Ruffalo's turn as The Hulk. Everyone involved had kind things to say about Ruffalo, but it was Downey's comment that proved what we learned about their relationship in yesterday's blooper reel was actually true.
"With Mark Ruffalo, I have someone who I'd be happy to do every scene with for the rest of my life," the man better known as Tony Stark admitted.
One, two, three, aww. But it turns out that the love fest didn't end with the two of them. Director Joss Whedon also knew that he didn't want anyone but the "Shutter Island" star to play his big green smashing machine.
"Mark Ruffalo was my first choice. I had a list. It was very short. His name was at the top," Whedon said. "As Banner, he's very vulnerable, he's very funny, he's very loose, but there's this coiled element. It's a wonderful performance."
Evans also was the subject of many compliments and appreciative sentiments.
"Chris Evans has risen to the forefront as Steve Rogers," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. "You look at Chris Evans, you forget any role he's ever played before, and all you can see is Steve Rogers."
Ruffalo added, "Working with Evans is very cool. I'm wildly impressed with him."
So what about Downey and Chris Hemsworth? Were they sticks in the mud or something? We guess we'll have to wait until "The Avengers" hits store shelves on September 25 to find out in the full version of this featurette.
