'Arrow' Gains Kelly Hu As China White

Kelly Hu

"Arrow" made its big debut at Comic-Con this year, and heralded in its Ballroom 20 premiere by introducing a brand new actress to the series: Kelly Hu.

Hu is no stranger to the comic book world, having starred as Lady Deathstrike in "X2: X-Men United" and voiced characters in Cartoon Network's "Young Justice." She'll be playing China White in the CW's take on the "Green Arrow," a character who was originally introduced in DC's "Green Arrow: Year One." As "Arrow" follows the origin story of Oliver Queen as he takes on his superhero identity, it makes sense that China would be a part of the story.

In DC Comics lore, China is a heroin importer who's base of operations is the same island that Oliver is marooned on for five years. It remains to be seen whether she ends up becoming a villain, love interest or both on the CW series.

"Arrow" will premiere Wednesday October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CW.
