The folks at Marvel Studios must be running out of room on their proverbial trophy shelf, as their runaway hit "Avengers" has now added another big win to its name. According to a press release, Joss Whedon's superhero extravaganza already the fourth most successful movie internationally and the third highest grossing globally and domestically will cross the $600 million threshold at U.S. theaters today.
It's well behind the top two record-holders, "Avatar" and "Titanic," and isn't likely to catch either ... but hey, that's what the sequel is for, right? Regardless, it's still a massive achievement for a film that was once nothing more than a pipe dream. Big congratulations are in order to Whedon, Kevin Feige and the rest of their team.
