Anthony Mackie 'Would Love' To Play 'Black Panther'

Little has been heard about the "Black Panther" movie since rumors first dropped earlier this month about its place as Marvel's post-"Captain America" 2014 release. We've dreamed up our own wish list of actors to take on the coveted role of T'Challa, but there's another star out there with his eye on Wakanda: "Hurt Locker" and "Gangster Squad" actor Anthony Mackie.

"I would love to be a part of it," Mackie told HitFix during the recent "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter" press junket. "I love Black Panther and I love the story behind it. It would be cool to be a part of it."

Mackie also spoke with The Daily Beast and reiterated his interest in "Black Panther," adding that he hopes whatever vision Marvel has in mind takes some cues from a different superhero—one who has nothing to do with Earth's mightiest heroes, in fact.

"If Black Panther is made into a movie, I would love for it to be along the lines of Batman," he said. "It has to be an adult action hero. I would love to be a part of it, though, and I would sign on to it today."

Though Mackie wasn't on our initial casting call, we can totally see him rocking the part. Do you think he's got what it takes to bring "Black Panther" to life, or is there another actor you prefer?
