There's some "Big Love" headed in Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington's general direction: according to Variety, the two stars of "2 Guns" are getting some company in the form of Bill Paxton, who is joining the Universal action flick from director Baltasar Kormakur.
Based on the comic book published by Boom Studios, "2 Guns" focuses on a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who are unwittingly pitted against each other by outside forces. When they realized that they're both being set up, they team together to clear their names.
Paxton's joining the project in a role only described as "a high ranking CIA operative." Given the premise of the film, it wouldn't be unreasonable to bet that Paxton's character is coming after Wahlberg and Washington's operatives. Regardless of who he's playing, Paxton is having himself a pretty fantastic 2012: he had a small but crucial role in the incredible "Haywire" earlier this year, and just enjoyed strong ratings and reviews for his miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys."
In addition to Washington and Wahlberg, he joins a cast that includes "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" actress Paula Patton.
