Wow. Just wow. We knew Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were going to give some powerful performances in "The Amazing Spider-Man," but it wasn't until this new clip hit the web that we realized how good they'd be.
In the new scene, titled "I Created Him," Stone's Gwen Stacy tries to convince Garfield's Peter Parker not to go face the Lizard as Spider-Man. "Every day for as far as I can remember, my father has left every morning and he's put a badge on his chest and strapped a gun to his hip, and every day for as long as I can remember I haven't known if he was going to make it home," she whispers to a shirtless Peter, silently entreating him not to do the same to her.
"Look at you," he whispers back as tears well in her eyes. "I've got to stop him [the Lizard], though. I have to. I created him."
We expect that this might be the "sad" scene Stone described in her recent interview with MTV News. If this actually was one of the scenes Stone used during her audition, it doesn't surprise us at all that Garfield fell for her in real life the same way his character did on the big screen.
"Obviously I was so happy that she got the role and decided to do it," he said. "[Working with Stone] were the days I'd look forward to, you know? For Peter as well, because Peter goes through some horrible stuff in the movie. There's some joy to be had when experiencing his first love."
"The Amazing Spider-Man" comes out July 3.
