Even as we're still awaiting word on who Mads Mikkelsen is playing in "Thor 2" (my money is on The Executioner) and whether or not Enchantress has a role to play in the film (I'm betting she does), there's more casting business going on behind-the-scenes of the mighty Asgardian warrior's upcoming sequel.
Specifically, there's a little bit of a case of revolving door syndrome on the second "Thor" film, as Joshua Dallas will not be reprising his role as Fandral the Dashing, one of the Warriors Three. Entertainment Weekly reported late last week that the actor's commitments as Prince Charming on "Once Upon a Time" will prevent him from returning to Asgard for a second adventure.
Luckily, there's good news to go with Dallas' departure. "Chuck" star Zachary Levi is reportedly in early talks to take on the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This marks the second time that Levi has played the game of thrones with "Thor." Before shooting began on the Kenneth Branagh-directed original, Levi was actually cast as Fandral, but had to abandon the project due to the last minute renewal of "Chuck" for one more season. Stuart Townsend then came on board for the role, but left before filming began over creative differences. Dallas stepped in and took on the part in Townsend's stead. Technically, then, Levi is both the first and the fourth actor to step into Fandral's shoes. The math is confusing, but the end result is pretty great, so let's just roll with it.
