Emma Stone, aka the woman of our dreams, was on hand at "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last night to present a brand new clip from "The Amazing Spider-Man." When she wasn't talking about her love for "iCarly" and somehow making us actually interested in the show, she was setting up the scene from her "Spider-Man" reboot.
We’ve been excited about "The Amazing Spider-Man" for a while now, but this clip really brought it all together for us. The Lizard is headed to Oscorp, and Gwen Stacy is inside. There's something there that she is trying to protect, and it means staying behind to make sure it comes to fruition. Instead of listening to Spider-Man and leaving to protect herself, she evacuates the building and stays behind to face the Lizard on her own.
Somehow we feel like we're missing a few key moments from this sequence, especially since the timer quickly jumps from eight minutes remaining to one. But we love how capable Gwen Stacy is in this movie. Though she obviously isn't making the smartest decision by staying at Oscorp while the Lizard is headed her way, we love how meticulous she is about her protection. Of course, that doesn't stop Connors from finding her, but she put out a valiant effort.
After listening to five minutes of score yesterday, we were particularly looking out for any interesting musical cues. And James Horner did not disappoint.
Starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, “The Amazing Spider-Man” focuses on Peter Parker’s journey to discover the secret of his parents’ early death. That brings him face-to-face with Dr. Curt Connors, played by Rhys Ifans, who ends up becoming the film’s villain, The Lizard. It’s due in theaters on July 3.
