“Avengers” DVDs, assemble!
Called “Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled,” the Blu-Ray set includes “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk” and “Iron Man 2” as well as both 3D and regular editions of “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The special set also includes a Blu-Ray bonus disc called “The Phase One Archives” and “collectible packing with exclusive memorabilia from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
That sounds pretty cryptic, but based on the image used to promote the set, we have a feeling we know what the “collectable packaging” is. The picture shows a briefcase poking out from under a sheet with a S.H.I.E.L.D. insignia on it, leading us to believe that it could be a copy of the briefcase Nick Fury uses to transport the Cosmic Cube in “The Avengers.” ComingSoon.net seems to believe that more details about this will be available on July 15.
The set doesn’t have a price, though we’re guessing it will be somewhere in the $200 range (especially considering fans will be getting six Blu-Rays in one badass set). We’re most intrigued by the fact that this is “Phase One,” though. There’s nothing we want more than three or four S.H.I.E.L.D. briefcases sitting on our shelves jam packed with Marvel movies.
“Avengers” is due out on Blu-ray and DVD on September 25.
