Following "Avengers," Marvel's looking to go deeper into the cosmos with their upcoming films. "Guardians of the Galaxy" is the pie-in-the-sky galactic Marvel movie, but we'll be in space well before that with "Thor 2." And while there's no confirmation of a Thanos sighting in the mighty warrior's future — not yet, at least — we do know of at least one familiar face returning to fight side-by-side with Thor: the sentry of Asgard, Heimdall.
Idris Elba has long been confirmed for a return trip to Asgard in "Thor 2," but what we didn't know before was just how much he'd have to do in the film. After all, save for one or two particularly sweet sword-wielding scenes, Heimdall didn't get in on much action the first go around. But that's looking to change, as Elba recently told MTV News his character has more to do in the sequel.
"Definitely Heimdall's more involved," he told MTV. "I literally just did a costume fitting the other day."
Even though Elba's stepping up his game for the Marvel movie, the British actor said that "Thor 2" will focus on other Asgardians besides Heimdall. "What's more involved is who the Asgardians are. I think we'll see a sense of that," he said about the sequel's story. "It's a huge film, but I also think it's micro in a way that you start to look at people, who they are a little bit more."
If that means more time spent with Sif and the Warriors Three in addition to Heimdall, then we're all for it. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to get to know a certain little trickster god even better, too…
