Well, this weekend will more or less officially kick off the summer movie bonanza of 2012. I'm referring to "The Avengers," of course, which you're surely aware of thanks to the ever-present marketing onslaught. But what are you going to do while waiting in line to get your tickets for the very first show this Friday night? How about some conveniently-timed Marvel iOS and Android games!
Yes, where there are licensed properties, there are even more licensed tie-ins sure to follow. While you could probably grab some boring souvenir cup from a gas station, video games are way more fun (although admittedly contain less delicious soda). Luckily, a few Marvel games are on sale this week in preparation of Joss Whedon's superhero film.
If you're in the mood for digital pinball – superhero themed, or otherwise – you can't go wrong with any of the fine games available from Zen. The studio has more or less set the standard for video pinball since releasing "Pinball FX" on the Xbox 360. While all of the tables offered by Zen are pretty great, the Marvel-themed machines are just fantastic.
If you're an iOS device owner, "Zen Pinball" is offering four Marvel superhero tables – Wolverine, Captain America, Thor, and Fantastic Four – for only 99-cents. If you're an Android user, "Zen Pinball THD" is offering the same deal. The games are normally two bucks, so it's worth checking out. The sale ends on May 7.
Pinball not your bag? Marvel has also placed two other licensed, iOS games on sale through May 8. "Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty" and "Thor: Son of Asgard" are both fairly standard, action-adventure brawlers, on sale for 99-cents each. Frankly, I don't know if I would personally pay more than a buck for either, so I guess it works out.
Regardless if you choose pinball or a brawler, any of these games are better than staring at the back of the guy in line's head. Even if he is wearing that sweet, custom Loki helm.
