'Dark Knight Rises' Kicks Off Fan T-Shirt Contest

As "The Dark Knight Rises" is Christopher Nolan's last Batman film, he and Warner Bros are trying to make it special. The latest instance of this is an official t-shirt design contest held by the online T-shirt creating community Design By Humans.

The website announced that they'll be holding a contest looking for fan submissions of T-shirt designs inspired by "The Dark Knight Rises." The event kicked off on Monday and will run through April 11 at midnight pacific time. Nolan and producer Emma Thomas will choose their three winners from the top 10 finalists for the challenge, and those fans will receive cash prizes as well as Design By Humans selling their T-shirt design.

The top prize is $3,500, and the winners will receive up to a cumulative amount of $12,500 for their designs. It's unclear if Nolan and Warner Bros plan to distribute the shirts in any other way in the future, but our guess is that they're part of a promotional effort for the film.

The rules dictate several stipulations regarding the inclusion of famous Batman symbols and characters. If the Batman logo is to be used, it must be the version shown here. The insertion of Two-Face, the Joker and Scarecrow is not allowed. Batman, Catwoman, Bane and "other Batman elements" are acceptable though.

The "top 5 winners countdown" begins on April 30, so we should find out towards the end of the next month who made the final cut for the T-shirt contest. If you have even a single creative bone in your body and are a fan of Nolan's take on Batman, our advice is to get busy drawing and submit a design to this competition.

"The Dark Knight Rises" hits theaters July 20.
