First 'Arrow' Photo Reveals Oliver Queen's Costume

Star City, here's a nice, good look at your brand new neighborhood crime-fighter!

Warner Bros. has released the first official photo from their upcoming The CW pilot, "Arrow," based on the popular Green Arrow character from DC Comics. Stephen Amell is playing Oliver Queen in the pilot, and if there was any question that his version of the Emerald Archer wouldn't be up to snuff, this photo should put those fears to rest — at least on the visual side of things.

David Nutter, director of the "Smallville" and "Supernatural" pilots, is the man behind the lens on "Arrow" as well. He spoke about the costume design for Oliver Queen's latest look, describing it as appropriately "darker and hard-edged" than what "Smallville" viewers are used to.

"When I directed the pilot for 'Smallville,' I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero," said Nutter. "'Arrow' is a different show -- darker and harder-edged -- but it's the same core idea. We're creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood's great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort."

I don't know about you, but it looks pretty awesome to me. Sound off with your thoughts on the brand new "Arrow" image in the comments section or on Twitter!
