Thor's Hammer Gets Agent Coulson In Trouble In New Marvel Short

Clark GreggMuch like Conan O'Brien, Agent Phil Coulson cannot stop. The ever stoic S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has already made his mark on the Marvel Universe in both "Iron Man" movies and most recently in "Thor," and now, in addition to starring in next summer's "The Avengers," he's got a franchise all of his own.

By now, you've already seen "The Consultant," the Marvel Studios short movie attached to the "Thor" Blu-ray and DVD, bridging the gap between this past summer's thunderstruck hit and the ending of "The Incredible Hulk." Now, Coulson returns in a new Marvel One-Shot titled "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer."

As one might glean from the short's long title, "A Funny Thing Happened" — which has tragically little to do with the similarly titled Broadway musical — takes place between the events of "Iron Man 2" when Coulson was alerted to the existence of the Asgardian warrior's weapon of choice, and the agent's first appearance in "Thor."

But what could really go wrong between a hop from Tony Stark's neck of the woods to a small town in New Mexico? If you're a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent with a sweet tooth for donuts, it turns out the answer is, quite a lot. Check it out for yourself:

Exactly how does Coulson get himself out of a hostage situation? We'll have to wait until the full short arrives as part of next month's "Captain America: The First Avenger" DVD and Blu-ray release, but something tells me that our boy's gonna have his donuts and eat 'em too.
