After a ton of casting news over the past few months and a stop at Fenway Park, it looks like filming for “R.I.P.D” is fully underway in Boston.
New photos were snapped on set yesterday as Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon, two of the film’s stars, stood around an eye-catching Dodge Challenger.
Robert Schwentke of “Red” fame is directing the Dark Horse Comics adaptation, which stars Reynolds as Nick, a murdered cop who joins the undead officers of the Rest in Peace Department to find the man who murdered him. Jeff Bridges will star opposite Reynolds as Roy, a veteran officer of the department. Kevin Bacon will appear as the film’s villain.
The photos feature Reynolds dressed in all black and Bacon in a sleek black leather jacket, but what really caught my eye was that the two appear to be all smiles. Based on the fact that Bacon is supposed to be playing the villain, is it safe to assume Reynolds’ character is unaware of his true intentions during this scene?
It’s also been reported that when Reynolds’ character is seen on the physical realm, he and the other R.I.P.D officers will take on human form — but not in their own bodies. Reynolds' character will be played on Earth by "Blade Runner" actor James Hong, while Victoria’s Secret model model Marisa Miller stands in for Bridges' mortal avatar. That might mean these photos are from a scene before Reynolds’ character’s death. Unless Bacon’s character is dead too, we might know who his killer is!
Based on the comic by Peter M. Lenkov, the film also stars Mary Louise Parker, Stephanie Szostak and Mike O’Malley.
“R.I.P.D.” opens June 28th, 2013.
