Of all the special effects in “X-Men: First Class,” one of the most impressive was the “costume” worn by Jennifer Lawrence as the blue-skinned mutant Mystique. But a lot more went into the look than just getting covered in blue paint, as seen in a new behind-the-scenes video.
Every morning, on her way to transforming into the indigo-hued shapeshifter, Lawrence was subjected to seven hours of extensive make-up work that involved a very thin sheet of blue and heinous amounts of airbrushing. Lawrence had to stand completely still while six different make-up artists went to work on her – and that’s all before she stepped on set to begin her day’s work.
The video itself is an early sneak peek at the type of special features and behind-the-scenes material that will be included on the DVD and Blu-ray for “X-Men: First Class” when it hits stores on Friday, September 9th. The short clip shows you not only the incredibly meticulous nature of the Mystique make-up process, but also gives fans a closer look at a practically naked Jennifer Lawrence. Like fan-fiction writers needed any more encouragement with their Mystique-based fantasies.
