Even though Hurricane Irene was battering the entire East Coast this weekend, Boston Red Sox fans would absolutely not be deterred from taking in a home game at Fenway Park. Also braving the foul weather at the baseball stadium? Early filming for “R.I.P.D.”!
Though the production has long been planned to start filming in Boston, the news that some was already underway came courtesy of the good folks at Collider. One of the site’s viewers was at Fenway Park this weekend and managed to grab a short video of “R.I.P.D.” actors James Hong and Marisa Miller.
Here’s what he had to say about it:
I was at Fenway Park this weekend watching the Red Sox pummel the A’s as hurricane Irene was pummeling Boston when I realized I was right in the middle of R.I.P.D. shooting at the ball park. Marisa Miller and James Hong were doing a scene when she leads him though the isle I was sitting in.
Based on the Dark Horse comic book of the same name by Peter Lenkov and Lucas Marangon, “R.I.P.D.” focuses on two members of the Rest In Peace Department played by Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. The two ghostly cops are working to find Reynolds’ killer, but in order to be seen on Earth, must make use of physical avatars, Hong and Miller. On the physical plane, Reynolds will be seen as an aging Chinese man, while Bridges will appear to be an outrageously foxy Victoria’s Secret model. Also, apparently they take in a Red Sox game.
The film, directed by Robert Schwentke of “Red” fame, also features Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker and Mike O’Malley, and will reach theaters on June 28, 2013. Watch the short clip below.
