Though fans of ol’ Flamehead were initially skeptical about a new “Ghost Rider” movie, as more details, images and footage of the film are released, “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” looks better and better.
Now, we’ve gotten our first look at the poster for the movie, which if nothing else, proves that the movie will prominently feature at least three of the character’s defining elements: Flames, chains and leather.

The film, directed by the “Crank” and “Crank: High Voltage” team of Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, is said to be taking a much darker approach to “Ghost Rider” than in the 2007 film – a fitting approach since the title character makes a deal with the devil to become a skull-headed guy on a fiery motorcycle. Though Nicolas Cage is returning in the movie’s lead role, he’ll be sporting an all-new look as the iconic superhero.
“We wanted this black skull, with this gasoline fire and this black, inky smoke to get this real feeling of explosions and fire and heat,” Neveldine told MTV News earlier this summer. “That’s something we really went for: ‘Let’s feel the heat in this movie.’”

With principal photography having been completed earlier this year, “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” is clear for a February 17, 2012 release. In addition to Cage, the movie will also star Idris Elba, Christopher Lambert, Ciarán Hinds, and Johnny Whitworth as Blackout.
