'Avengers' Finally Lets Nick Fury Shine, Samuel L. Jackson Says

Nick FuryThough he’s appeared in both “Iron Man” movies, “Thor” and even “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been mostly relegated to small scenes and the movies’ signature post-credit “stingers.” In next summer’s “Avengers,” however, the actor will be playing a much larger role.

Speaking with BBC Newsbeat, Jackson spoke about how his heavily-guarded script for the movie was stolen and also about Fury’s increased screen presence this time around.

“I’m actually doing more than I’ve done in any of the other films,” the actor admitted. “You don’t have to wait until the end of the movie to see me. I’m actually around the whole movie and I do a lot more. I have action scenes and I actually do things to people in this movie.”

When speaking about the rest of the movie’s killer cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and others, Jackson mentioned how strange the sensation of seeing everyone in costume can be.

“It’s kind of funny to stand around a room and see everybody,” he said. “It’s just amazing to look around the room and see all those guys there and go, ‘Okay. This is cool.’”

“The Avengers,” which has been seeded, alluded to and built up by most of Marvel’s recent movies, will finally hit theaters on May 4, 2012, and is written and directed by Joss Whedon.

What do you think about an increased role for Jackson in “The Avengers”? Are you excited to see more Nick Fury on the screen?
