'Avengers' Teased In Marvel's New 'One-Shot' Movies

Like all universes, Marvel’s cinematic one is rapidly expanding, with this year’s “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” building anticipation to a fever pitch for next summer’s “The Avengers.” Now, for the first time, the studio is trying its hand at live-action shorts, the first of which, “Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant,” will appear on next month’s “Thor” Blu-ray, hitting stores on September 13. You can get a sneak peek at the short now:

Part of the “Marvel One-Shots” initiative, the short film will feature Clark Gregg, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson in “Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “The Avengers,” acting as a common, human-level thread throughout Marvel’s recent releases. At San Diego Comic-Con last month, Marvel even screened an early look at “The Consultant,” before Gregg himself took the stage to discuss the project.

While “The Consultant” takes place prior to “The Avengers,” the second “One-Shot,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer,” covers the time between Coulson leaving Tony Stark in “Iron Man 2” and when he arrives at the crater site featured heavily in “Thor.” Both prominently feature Gregg and could possibly be a way of testing the waters of the S.H.I.E.L.D. television series mentioned by the actor late last month. Check out what he said about that in the video below:
