Between the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer and the first teaser for "The Avengers," it's starting to feel like Summer 2012 is already here. Adding further fuel to that sentiment: the arrival of the "Amazing Spider-Man" trailer... a little bit sooner than expected.
The first trailer for Sony's developing 3-D reboot of the "Spider-Man" franchise has leaked online in advance of its expected official debut at Comic-Con this week.
Just like yesterday's "Avengers" teaser, you'll have to look elsewhere if you're seeking the trailer itself -- but after the jump, we'll fill you in on what to expect from your first look at Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.
We've been hearing words like "grounded," "gritty" and "realistic" attached to this reboot practically from the word go, and based on the new teaser, it's clear that he's targeting a darker tone than what Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire strived for with their "Spider-Man" trilogy. Really, the combination of music, lighting and the mere sight of Andrew Garfield give this "Spider-Man" overhaul something of a "Social Network" vibe — not a bad thing necessarily, just an observation.
But those "Social Network" comparisons go straight out the window as soon as Peter gets bitten by a radioactive spider in what looks to be a laboratory belonging to Doctor Curt Connors, the Rhys Ifans-portrayed scientist well on his way towards becoming the Lizard. Moments later, we're treated to an expansive showcase of first-person web-slinging action that promises to take full advantage of the new movie's 3-D capabilities.
Plenty more to chew on from this one, folks, so stay tuned as we delve deeper into the new "Spider-Man" trailer.
