The poster, which debuted at Fandango, is perhaps less action-packed than the ones we’ve previously seen, but it earns some serious points with us for showing off its leading men and ladies, including the seldom-seen Stephen Lang and Rose McGowan.
But at the central focus of the poster, as it should be, is leading man Jason Momoa as the titular barbarian. Alongside him is leading lady Rachel Nichols, who looks to be a bit more than meets the eye. If anyone was doubting that this was going to have appropriate amounts of fantasy to match the action, this should quell your fears.
Then again, the previous trailer already teased a lot of those fantastical elements. The real question is how well “Conan the Barbarian” stacks up against the Arnold Schwarzenegger version, and whether it is strong enough to start its own franchise. Unfortunately, Momoa is not the man to ask that of.
“I haven’t actually seen the Arnold stuff,” he admitted when Splash Page talked to him in April. “I’m excited to see it. I was three years old when it came out…I can’t wait to see it. I want to see mine and then I’m going to watch that one, back to back.”
