First Teaser For Nickelodeon's 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Animated Series

Nickelodeon is rolling right along with its upcoming reboot of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" TV series. The show's first season has received a 26-episode order (half-hour format) to air in late 2012, and now there's a first look online which offers a glimpse at the latest incarnation of our lovable, sewer-dwelling, pizza-eating mutant reptiles.

The preview comes courtesy of EW.com, which also writes that the show will be "funnier and ninja-ier," according to Nickelodeon. The turtles featured in the EW clip look more ninja-y than funny, with all of them wearing serious expressions and generally just doing a good job of acting like badasses. It's a brief glimpse though, with no more than a handful of seconds devoted to each turtle, but it certainly gets the job done as first looks go.

Nickelodeon paid big dollars for the franchise, shelling (get it?!) out $60 million for the global rights in a late-2009 deal with Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment.

"’Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ shares a comedic sensibility with the Nickelodeon DNA. We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to be able to focus on this property and creatively re-introduce it to a new generation of kids," Nickelodeon President Cyma Zarghami said at the time.
