Brett Favre’s Fine, ‘Tron: Legacy’ Reviews, And Patton Oswalt On Geeks In Today’s Twitter Report

Noted nerd Patton Oswalt called for the death of geek culture in a Wired piece this week and ruffled a few feathers. Jeff Parker sounds he’s got the comedian and writer’s back, however, and thinks geeks at large need to learn to take their criticism in stride.

And speaking of criticism, there’s been no shortage of it mixed in with the compliments for “Tron: Legacy.” More responses rolled out in the Twitter Report feed today, along with Eric Powell’s reaction to Brett Favre’s $50K fine, Kalman Andrasofszky’s new webcomic idea and the identity of a confessed Spider-Man Snuggie owner.

I’m @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter Report for December 30, 2010.

@GerryDuggan Tron romanticized horrible arcades. The truth is back in the 80’s they were filled with half-working machines, cigarette smoke & mustaches.
-Gerry Duggan, Writer (“The Infinite Horizon”)

@Robwilliams71 Tron: Legacy. Not great, sadly. Was pretty bored. Duff old script. Sounds great. Looks good. Erm…
-Rob Williams, Writer (“Dark X-Men: The Beginning,” “Robocop”)

@CBCebulski Show us you can write comics first. Then we’ll let you know if we think you’re ready to write Marvel comics.
-C.B. Cebulski, Sr. VP, Creator and Content Development (Marvel)

@jeffparker Okay, I’ve finally read the Patton Oswalt piece. We’re overreacting. If Geeks are going to be mainstream we need to be able to take a punch.
-Jeff Parker, Writer (“Agents of Atlas,” “Dark Reign: The Hood”)

@goonguy Favre fined 50k for sexual harassment. 5% of one game check. If broken into yearly income, he literally makes that amount in 3 minutes.
-Eric Powell, Writer/Artist (“The Goon,” “Action Comics”)

@evilkalman I just came up with the best webcomic idea you guys. It could be the next Dinosaur Comics, but also likely get me sued to f—. What to do?
-Kalman Andrasofszky, Artist (“NYX: No Way Home,” “Dazzler”)

@theramonperez inking on captain america going much better today then yesterday. yesterday more white out was used than ink.
-Ramón Pérez, Writer/Artist (“Kukuburi,” “Dazzler”)

Deep Thought for the Day:

@DanSlott Perfect storm: heat’s out + an impulse buy. And now I’m wearing a Spider-Man Snuggie. Noting the date: 12/30/10. Last shred of dignity: gone
-Dan Slott, Writer (“The Amazing Spider-Man,” “Avengers: The Initiative”)
