No ‘Avengers’ For Pepper Potts, Says Gwyneth Paltrow

We know that Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Thor will all be in “The Avengers,” but what about some of the other characters? What about the ones without the superpowers and fancy costumes?

According to “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2” actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Tony Stark’s favorite leading lady won’t be involved in Marvel’s 2012 superhero team-up blockbuster.

“Pepper is not invited to ’Avengers,'” Paltrow told MTV News during a press event for her new film “Country Strong.”

Asked if that was official, Paltrow confirmed that the woman who manages the life of the Marvel movie universe’s most eligible bachelor won’t be appearing in “The Avengers” — meaning Tony Stark will have to fly solo when Iron Man joins Captain America, Thor, and the rest of the team.

“No Pepper in ’Avengers,'” reiterated Paltrow.

Given the new dynamic of Tony and Pepper’s relationship at the end of “Iron Man 2,” it’s surprising that Paltrow’s character won’t make even a small cameo in “The Avengers.” What this could mean for “Iron Man 3” is anybody’s guess at this point, though Jon Favreau recently announced that he’s waiting to see what happens in the next few Marvel movies before he even begins to contemplate the script for a third “Iron Man” movie.
