Five Important Images In The ‘Green Lantern’ Trailer Teaser

The new 30-second teaser for the “Green Lantern” trailer that hit the ’net has everyone buzzing about the big-screen debut of DC’s ring-wielding cosmic hero. Even though there was only half a minute of footage, there was a lot to see in that brief glimpse at one of next year’s most-anticipated movies.

From the first look at Kilowog, drill instructor to newbie Green Lanterns, to that shot of Hal Jordan throwing a mean right hook with a big, green fist, the footage offered an early peek at many of the elements Green Lantern fans have been waiting to see.

I’ve compiled a list of five of my favorite moments from the teaser trailer, so read on and then let me know any other moments that caught your eye.

THE TRANSFORMATION: The new, organic look for Hal Jordan’s costume has caused no small amount of debate among fans. In this “Green Lantern” trailer teaser, we get our first full look at both the costume and Hal’s ring-enabled transformation into the cosmic policeman of Sector 2814.

SAY HELLO TO KILOWOG, POOZERS! The massive drill instructor of Planet Oa is a fan-favorite character and one of the elements of the film everyone’s been wondering about. This brief shot of Kilowog is our first look at one of the central characters responsible for Hal’s evolution into one of the greatest Green Lanterns ever to wear the ring.

TALK TO THE FIST: This scene of Hal Jordan repelling would-be attackers with a massive green fist was first shown at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and it’s our first —albeit very brief— look at the constructs Hal will form with the ring.

OA OR BUST: The last two images both seem to feature Hal arriving and departing, respectively, from the Green Lantern home planet, Oa. The first image is notable because of the massive, green, lantern-shaped structure in the background as Hal descends. It’s pretty amazing, but why is it so dark? (Any thoughts, readers?) The second shot seems to show Hal taking off from the planet, and offers a nice, bright look at both the city and a few other Green Lanterns that seem to be hovering in the air. Nice way to travel, eh?
