'Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance' Directors Announce Start Of Filming In Romania

Ghost Rider Nic CageThe sequel to 2007’s “Ghost Rider” is on the road to production, and as it gains velocity, it looks like we’ll be receiving some updates through the joint twitter account of the film's directing duo.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor announced via Twitter yesterday that filming for the February 17, 2012 scheduled “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” started this week.

“Principal photography on ghost rider SOV begins today!!!” reported the duo. "idris elba, helicopters, motorcycles, russian arm and the the Transfagarasanul.... HOLY SH**”

Their excited exclamations, however abbreviated, reveal a bit more into the movies’ progress. We knew Idris Elba, portraying an “alcoholic warrior monk,” would be charged with tracking down Johnny Blaze, himself on a quest to stop the Devil from taking over his human son’s body. But even at this early stage of filming, it seems the whole cast and crew are on their slated Romania set, a shooting location hinted at in previous reports.

The “Transfagarasanul” so patiently spelled by Neveldine (or Taylor), is the mountainous, relentlessly twisting road in Romania, a perfectly ominous piece of landscape the star — who's anxious to “ride up to Dracula’s castle” — may have imagined.
