Idris Elba Joins 'Ghost Rider' Sequel, Has His Eye On 'Blade' And 'Luke Cage'

Idris ElbaIdris Elba makes his Marvel debut next summer in Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," but that's not his last role for the comic book publisher.

According to Heat Vision, Elba is saddling up alongside Nicolas Cage for "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." Elba stars as "an alcoholic warrior monk" tasked with tracking down Johnny Blaze, who himself is on a quest to stop the devil (Ciaran Hinds) from taking over his mortal son's body on his birthday. Johnny Whitworth is also joining the cast as a minion of the devil.

But wait, there's more — Elba has designs on other Marvel properties beyond "Ghost Rider," as well!

Speaking with Total Film, Elba revealed that he's set to appear in other Marvel movies beyond "Thor." Though he couldn't reveal much about his "picture deal" with Marvel Studios, he evoked Arnold Schwarzenegger and insisted that he'll "be back." And it's not just "Ghost Rider" and his continued role as Heimdall that he's thinking about, too, as he's got his eye on a certain vampire hunter previously played by Wesley Snipes.

"I wouldn't mind having a crack at bringing Blade back, personally," Elba told the magazine, prompting laughter from his manager. He added: "There's a couple of things there that they have... Luke Cage is... very interesting."

Between Elba's role in "Thor," his just announced part in "Ghost Rider," his previous performance in "The Losers" and his interest in "Blade" and "Luke Cage," let's just say that Ryan Reynolds better watch out — he's about to be replaced as the busiest comic book movie actor in Tinsel Town!
