We're just short of a year away from the premiere of "Priest," director Scott Stewart's upcoming film based on Hyung Min-Woo's popular manhwa series, but that just means there's plenty of time to get to know the film and its source material before it debuts in theaters.
Not familiar with "Priest" and its cast of characters? Don't worry — we've got you covered. MTV News caught up with stars Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, and Karl Urban, and had them introduce the characters they're playing in the film.
"I play Sheriff Hicks, and I'm the sheriff of a small town where my girlfriend gets kidnapped by a pack of vampires," said Gigandet. "I enlist [the help of] Paul Bettany, Priest, and we are on the road to find and rescue her."
"I play Priestess, a female Priest in the film," said Q. "We were once comrades-in-arms during the war the church was fighting. We have quite a history, and one thing leads to another and we go our separate ways. I basically . . . band together with Cam's character and Paul's character on this search for this very important girl."
And while Gigandet and Maggie Q play two characters on the "good guy" side of the equation, Urban told MTV News he had a great time playing the film's villain, the evil Black Hat.
"He's a former priest who falls in battle and gets transformed into the very first human vampire in our story," explained Urban. "I set in motion a chain of events that draws out Paul Bettany's character from the city into the wastelands, and generally just wreak havoc, hell and mayhem on everybody. I'm a nice guy."
"Priest" is scheduled to hit theaters May 2011.
