Heat Vision reports that “All-Star Superman” is currently in development for a release date next spring. From the sound of it, the project is living up to its title by assembling an all-star voice cast: “Desperate Housewives” actor James Denton stars as the Man of Steel, “Mad Men” actress Christina Hendricks provides the voice of Lois Lane and “Without a Trace” leading man Anthony LaPaglia is playing Lex Luthor.
Additional cast members include Ed Asner as Perry White, Frances Conroy as Ma Kent and Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo and Matthew Gray Gubler in unspecified roles.
Bruce Timm, one of the key figures behind the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, is executive producing the project. “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths” director Sam Liu will once again helm the project while “Crisis on Two Earths” scribe and noted comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie pens the script.
“All-Star Superman” brings mortality to Kal-El’s doorstep when the superhero learns that he’s dying due to radiation poisoning. With limited time left in his life, the Man of Steel embarks on a journey of reparation and self-discovery, seeking to ensure the safety of mankind once he’s gone for good.
